Details
Foil-faced chimney liner insulation, 1/2 inch thick, 24 inches wide and 25 ft long, cut to fit. (use two rolls for longer runs)
Use it to insulate any liner up to 6 inch where no pre-cut kit is available.
Insulation provides the 1 inch value the UL 1777 listing requires for solid fuel, earns the zero-clearance rating, keeps gases hotter for a better draft and reduces creosote.
Wrap the liner, secure it with mesh and foil tape, and fit it before installation; a nose cone helps protect it during the pull. One roll covers up to 25 ft of liner; for longer liners order two.
Required for wood, pellet and coal.
How to install an insulation wrap
- Lay the liner out straight on a flat surface and fit the bottom connector (tee or appliance connector).
- Wrap the blanket around the liner, foil side out, covering the full length. Butt the long edges together with no gaps.
- Seal the lengthwise seam and any joints with foil tape.
- Fit the stainless steel mesh over the blanket and secure it with banding or clamps near both ends and every 1 to 2 ft along the length.
- Check that the masonry flue is wide enough for the liner plus the insulation. Fit a pulling cone over the top end to protect the blanket, then pull the insulated liner through the flue in one steady motion.
- Make sure the insulation runs the full length, then finish the top plate and cap.
-For the liner to keep its safety listing, the insulation must cover the entire length.
