Buying chimney pipe piece by piece is where most wood stove projects go wrong. You end up with a length short here, a clamp that does not fit there, and two brands that were never meant to join. A kit solves that. The question is which kit, and the honest answer depends on where your stove sits and how the flue leaves the building.

Choose the kit by your install path

  • Straight up through the ceiling and roof: a through-the-roof kit. This is the most common layout, with the pipe rising from the stove, through a support box, and out the roof.
  • Up through an attic first: a through-the-attic kit, which adds the attic insulation shield you need where the pipe passes the floor of a cold space.
  • Out through a side wall and up outside: a through-the-wall kit, with the wall thimble, tee and support bracket for an exterior run.

What a complete kit includes

A proper kit is more than pipe. Expect the Class A insulated chimney lengths, a ceiling support box or wall support, the pitched roof flashing, a storm collar, a rain cap, and the trim collar that finishes the ceiling. Because every part comes from the same system, the clamps and joints all match. Our pipe is engineered as one certified assembly and is not designed to mix with other manufacturers' sections, which removes the guesswork of pairing parts across brands.

Match the diameter to your stove

Size is set by your appliance, not by preference. Use the diameter of your stove's flue outlet: most US wood stoves are 6 inch, and larger stoves and some furnaces are 8 inch. Do not neck a flue down below the stove's collar. Our Class A pipe is priced by diameter and by section length: in 6 inch diameter a 36 inch long section is $187 and 48 inches long is $254, and in 8 inch diameter an 18 inch long section is $163, and the kits are built around both sizes.

All Class A, all UL 103 HT listed

Every kit is built on UL 103 HT-listed Class A insulated chimney pipe: a 304 stainless inner and outer wall around a 1.18 inch ceramic-fiber core, rated for continuous use at 1000 degrees F. That listing is what lets the pipe pass safely through a ceiling, attic, wall or roof. Connector pipe (single-wall or black double-wall) only ever runs inside the room, between the stove and the ceiling support.

An existing masonry chimney is different

If you are dropping a stove into a house that already has a masonry chimney, you may not need a full Class A kit at all. A flexible stainless chimney liner kit in 316Ti stainless relines the existing flue instead. That is a separate decision, and our team can tell you which path fits your house.

Warranty and installation

Both the Class A pipe and the liner kits carry a limited lifetime warranty for as long as the original owner keeps the system. On Class A, replacement is at 100 percent of the original purchase price for the first 15 years and 50 percent thereafter. You can install a kit yourself, and the matched parts make it a straightforward job, but using a licensed chimney contractor or a CSIA or NFI certified installer preserves the full warranty.
