Mobile Home Wood Stove & Chimney Kit — Stove to Roof

Build a complete wood stove venting system for your mobile or manufactured home, from the stove outlet to the chimney cap above the roof. Choose the double-wall stove connector, ceiling and roof components, insulated Class A chimney lengths, roof flashing and cap for your installation.

Complete mobile home wood stove chimney kit: from stove to roof

Configure a complete vertical venting route for a wood stove in a mobile or manufactured home. This selector starts at the stove outlet with a compatible double-wall black connector, continues to a listed ceiling support and insulated Class A chimney, passes through the roof, and finishes with the appropriate flashing, storm collar, chimney height and cap. The kit is assembled from individual products selected for your answers; it is not a prepacked manufacturer's kit.

  • Begin with the vent diameter specified by your stove manufacturer.
  • Select the double-wall connector arrangement and measure the rise from the stove to the support.
  • Choose your ceiling and roof construction, attic depth if present, and roof pitch.
  • Build the insulated chimney from the support through the roof to the termination.
  • Check the exposed height, support or brace, weather sealing and cap.

Which diameter should I choose?

Use the outlet diameter and venting instructions for your specific appliance. A 6-inch or 8-inch choice in the selector is not permission to change the size required by the stove listing. Do not reduce or enlarge the vent simply to match a component. The stove, connector, adapter, support and insulated chimney must form a compatible listed installation. If your stove calls for another diameter, do not select a larger kit by guesswork.

From the stove outlet to the ceiling

The room-side connection is double-wall black stove pipe. Measure from the stove collar to the point where the insulated chimney begins, allowing for the actual engagement of the appliance adapter, telescoping sections and ceiling support. A straight vertical route is the basis of this kit. The connector remains in the occupied room and must not be run through a combustible ceiling, attic or roof. Follow the clearance and fastening instructions of the specific connector and appliance.

Some stove outlets need a listed appliance adapter. The fit depends on the exact stove collar and connector family; diameter alone cannot establish compatibility. The wizard must account for the adapter and the required transition to Class A pipe before an order can be considered complete.

Where does the insulated chimney begin?

In a flat-ceiling installation, the connector terminates at the listed ceiling support. Insulated Class A chimney continues through the attic and roof. An attic insulation shield or other listed protection is selected as required by the chimney system and the attic construction. In an open or cathedral-ceiling installation, the listed support arrangement at the sloped ceiling determines the transition point before the chimney passes through the roof. The roof flashing seals the outer roof surface; it does not replace a structural support or a stove-pipe-to-chimney adapter.

Use the support, adapter, shield, chimney sections and termination specified for one compatible chimney system. Do not mix brands or series unless their listing and installation instructions expressly permit it.

Measure the Class A chimney route

Measure the insulated section from the ceiling support through any attic to the roof and then above the roof. Provide the ceiling-to-roof or attic depth, roof pitch, roof exit location and the height of nearby roof surfaces. The selected lengths must account for overlap and installed length in the manufacturer's instructions. If an offset is necessary to clear framing, that requires an approved elbow and support layout; a straight-run selection alone is not sufficient.

Roof flashing, storm collar and chimney cap

The roof pitch determines the flashing range. Roofing material and the manufacturer's flashing instructions determine how the penetration is weather sealed. A storm collar seals around the chimney above the flashing. The cap or termination must be part of the listed chimney system and include a spark arrester where required by the appliance and manufactured-home installation. If a long section stands above the roof, check whether a roof brace is required under the chimney instructions.

Mobile and manufactured home installation checks

A manufactured-home installation has appliance-specific conditions beyond the chimney parts in the cart. Check that your stove is listed for this use and that its instructions cover the installation. Confirm direct outside combustion air, hearth protection, fastening of the appliance to the home and all required clearances. The U.S. manufactured-home rule for solid-fuel fireplace stoves describes a complete means of venting through the roof, a combustion-air inlet, hearth extension and secure attachment, and specifies a listed factory-built chimney and termination. The chimney must reach at least 3 feet above its roof penetration and 2 feet above any part of the home within 10 feet. Follow the applicable appliance and chimney listings and confirm the requirements for your specific home and location.

This kit selector supplies chimney components; it does not certify the suitability of a particular stove or replace its installation manual. Outside-air connections and hearth or anchoring hardware vary by appliance and must be checked separately unless explicitly included in the selected products.

How to use the selector

  1. Read the stove label and manual, then select its required vent diameter.
  2. Measure the connector run from the stove to the ceiling support and identify any listed appliance adapter.
  3. Choose flat ceiling with attic or cathedral ceiling, and measure the insulated route below the roof.
  4. Choose the roof pitch and roofing conditions for flashing and storm collar.
  5. Measure the chimney above the roof against the roof-height rule and check whether a brace is needed.
  6. Review every selected line item and its installation manual before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

Is this only a roof penetration kit?

No. The intended selector covers the venting path from the stove outlet through the roof to the chimney cap. The appliance itself, outside-air assembly, hearth and anchoring hardware are separate unless explicitly listed in the selected items.

Can I take black stove pipe through the roof?

No. The connector ends at the listed support and transition. Insulated chimney designed and listed for the penetration continues beyond that point.

What if my roof has an attic?

The ceiling support, insulated chimney lengths and attic protection must account for that extra space. Choose the flat-ceiling-and-attic route and measure the attic depth.

Can I use an 8-inch chimney with a 6-inch stove outlet?

Use the size and configuration approved in your stove's venting instructions. Do not assume that changing diameter is acceptable because both sizes appear in the catalog.

Does this selector approve my stove for a mobile home?

No. The appliance label and installation instructions determine whether and how it may be installed in a manufactured home.
